QR code scan tracking with QR Studio
A normal QR code cannot tell you whether anyone scanned it. This page opens on a link code and the trackable option below, which counts every scan.
- Paste the destination address in the form.
- Press "Make this code editable and trackable".
- Download the code and print or share it.
- Open the Scans panel to see counts by day and device; Pro adds countries and CSV.
What to know
To count scans, the code cannot point straight at your website. It points at a short link, which records the scan and then sends the visitor on to your address in a fraction of a second. That one extra hop is also what lets you change the destination later.
Scans are counted by day, with the device type (iPhone, Android, desktop) and, on Pro, the country. Automatic link previewers and bots are not counted. No name, account or IP address is stored with a scan. If you also want campaign data inside your own analytics, add UTM parameters to the destination address.
Compare placements by making one trackable code per placement, for example one for the flyer and one for the window, and look at the totals after a week. Pro keeps 365 days and lets you export the history as CSV.

Questions
How can I track QR code scans?
Use a trackable code: it points to a short link that counts each scan and then redirects to your address. A normal code cannot count scans.
What does the scan count include?
The number of scans per day and the device type. Pro adds the country. Bots and link previews are not counted.
Does tracking slow down the scan?
The redirect adds a fraction of a second, which is not noticeable to the person scanning.
Can I use Google Analytics with it?
Yes. Add UTM parameters to the destination address and your own analytics will record the visit as well.
The free plan covers everything on this page. QR Studio Pro ($5/mo, billed monthly) is described on the QR Studio page.
