HEIC to JPG under a size limit, for iPhone photos on Android or Windows

HEIC to JPG under a size with Upload Fitter

This page opens with a JPG under 300 KB rule. Choose a HEIC photo, for example one sent from an iPhone, and the tool decodes it in the browser, applies its rotation and saves a JPG under the limit, without the photo's location data.

  1. Tap Choose photos and pick the .heic file (on Android it may be in Files or Downloads).
  2. The HEIC decoder loads the first time (about 3 MB, once) and the photo appears.
  3. The JPG under 300 KB rule is selected; change it with the chips or Custom if your form needs another size.
  4. Download or share the JPG when the badge says Fits.

What to know

HEIC is the default photo format on iPhones. Many upload forms, Windows apps and Android phones cannot open it. Safari decodes HEIC itself; in other browsers the tool loads libheif (through the heic-to package, LGPL) as a separate file, only when a HEIC photo appears, and decodes it on your device.

HEIC photos carry the same location and camera data as JPGs. The tool draws the decoded picture into a canvas and encodes a new JPG, so none of that metadata is copied; the result states its DPI and nothing else.

Questions

Is the HEIC file uploaded to convert it?

No. The decoder runs in your browser. The only request to us is the daily count when you download or share.

Can I convert several HEIC photos at once?

Into one PDF, yes (up to 3 pages free, 30 with Pro). As separate JPGs in a .zip, with Pro batch.

Why is the file a little under the limit, not exactly on it?

Each try is a finished file. The tool keeps the highest JPEG quality whose file is at or under the maximum, so it usually lands a few kilobytes below it. It counts the maximum as 1,000 bytes per KB, the stricter reading, so the file also passes a form that counts 1,024.

Are my photos sent anywhere?

No. They are read and encoded in your browser. When you download or share, the page sends only a count request (a random ID for this browser and a one-way hash of your network address, deleted after 2 days) for the free daily limit.

The free plan covers everything on this page. Upload Fitter Pro ($9.50 until Oct 25, then $19, paid once) is described on the Upload Fitter page.
