Scan many QR codes with your phone and save them as a CSV list

QR codes to CSV with Scanlist

This page opens in New row each scan mode with CSV export: every QR code you scan becomes its own row with the full text it holds, links included, so you can collect dozens of codes and take them into a spreadsheet in one file.

  1. Tap Start scanning and allow the camera.
  2. Point the camera at each QR code. Its full content is added as a row; links are listed as text and never opened.
  3. Add a note to identify where each code was, for example the room or the poster.
  4. Export the CSV, or Copy as text to paste the list into a message.

What to know

A phone camera app opens a QR code as soon as it sees it, one at a time. Here the content goes into a list instead, so you can collect many codes without visiting them, check what each one holds, and keep a record. A link from a code is shown as plain text in the row; nothing is opened and the camera images never leave the phone.

QR codes can hold any text, including text that starts with an equals sign. When a CSV like that is opened in a spreadsheet, the cell could be run as a formula, so cells starting with = or @, and cells starting with + or - that contain brackets, quotes or other formula symbols, get an apostrophe in front in the CSV. HIBC codes that start with + and plain signed numbers are left as read. The XLSX export writes them as text cells instead, with no apostrophe.

Data Matrix and PDF417 codes, the square and stacked codes on parcels, tickets and ID cards, are read the same way. Very dense codes need the camera closer and good light; use the light button where the phone has one, or Scan from a photo with a sharp picture taken close up.

Questions

Does scanning a QR code here open the link?

No. The content is added to the list as text. You decide later what to do with it.

How many QR codes can I scan?

Scanning is not limited. Free exports include up to 25 rows, three times a day; Pro removes both limits.

Can it read QR codes from a screenshot or photo?

Yes. Use Scan from a photo and pick the image; several codes in one image are all added.

Is a QR code with Wi-Fi or contact details saved in full?

Yes, the raw text the code holds is saved, for example WIFI:S:... or BEGIN:VCARD. Treat the export as private if the codes contain passwords.

The free plan covers everything on this page. Scanlist Pro ($5/mo, billed monthly) is described on the Scanlist page.
