Scan QR tickets at the door into a check-in list

Event check-in with Scanlist

This page opens in New row each scan mode: every ticket scanned at the door becomes a row with the time, so the export is an arrival log. It records what was scanned; it does not check tickets against a ticketing system.

  1. Before doors open, name the list after the event and the entrance, for example Door 1.
  2. Tap Start scanning and scan each attendee QR code, from paper or a phone screen.
  3. Turn the screen brightness up on the attendee phone if a code will not read, or type the ticket number.
  4. After the event, export the list and match it against your ticket sales to see who attended.

What to know

A check-in list needs the time of every scan, which New row each scan gives you. Scanlist does not validate a ticket: it cannot tell a real ticket from a copy, because it has no access to the ticketing system. Use it to record arrivals and count heads, and match the export against the guest list afterwards with Compare (Pro) or a lookup in your spreadsheet.

QR codes on phone screens read best with the screen brightness up and the phone held still about a hand width from the camera. Paper tickets in a dim venue read better with the light on. A second scan of the same ticket appears as another row with its own time; Pro can switch on a duplicate warning that beeps differently and does not add the row.

Free is enough to try a small event: scanning is unlimited and three exports a day include 25 rows each. For larger events Pro removes the limits, scans continuously without a tap between attendees, and keeps a separate named list per door or per day.

Questions

Does it check whether a ticket is valid?

No. It records the code and the time; it is not connected to any ticketing system and cannot detect copied tickets. Match the export against your sales list afterwards.

What happens if the same ticket is scanned twice?

In this mode it is added as a new row with its own time, so you can see it. Pro can warn on duplicates and not add them.

Can it scan QR codes shown on a phone screen?

Yes. Ask for full screen brightness and hold the code still. Very small codes on a cracked screen may need the ticket number typed instead.

Do attendee details leave my phone?

No. The codes stay on the device until you export them. Only an export count with a random browser ID is sent, for the free limit.

The free plan covers everything on this page. Scanlist Pro ($5/mo, billed monthly) is described on the Scanlist page.
