Custom cards (Pro) with Sprint Poker
Custom cards are part of Sprint Poker Pro ($29 once for the facilitator). The start card opens with an editable deck: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 10, ? and coffee, and the row of cards updates as you type, so you can try your scale before buying. Starting a room with it asks you to unlock Pro. The four built-in decks (Fibonacci, modified Fibonacci, T-shirt sizes, powers of 2) stay free.
- Edit the "Your cards" field on the start card. Separate values with commas or spaces; each card can be up to 8 characters and a deck holds 2 to 20 cards.
- Watch the card row under the field: it shows exactly what players will see. Duplicates or over-long values are flagged before you can start.
- Type your name and press Enter. Without Pro, the upgrade opens at this point; with Pro, the room is created with your deck and three practice stories.
- Prefer to stay free? Pick a built-in deck in the Deck menu instead. Powers of 2 (1, 2, 4, 8, 16) or modified Fibonacci cover most custom needs.
- With Pro, adjust the deck in the room settings if a value is missing, or save it to your team so new rooms can reuse it. Votes already cast stay as they are.
What to know
Custom decks are mostly about matching a scale the team already uses. Linear scales such as 1 to 5 or 1 to 10 suit risk or complexity ratings, where equal gaps are the point. Teams moving from hours often want values like 6 or 10 that Fibonacci decks skip. Others need a short deck, such as 1, 2, 3, for quick triage where anything bigger is split. If a built-in deck is close enough, the free plan covers it: powers of 2 already doubles from 1 to 64, and modified Fibonacci stops at 20, 40 and 100.
Numbers and labels behave differently after the reveal. When every card is numeric (decimals and ½ included), Sprint Poker computes the average, median, minimum, maximum and spread. When the deck mixes in words, such as "small" or "spike", the reveal shows the most common card instead, and the distance between votes is measured in positions along your deck, so order the cards from smallest to largest.
Keep ? and coffee if you want them: they are recognised as non-estimates and left out of the statistics, so a player can say "I do not know enough" without dragging the median. Remove them if your team prefers everyone to commit to a value.
The custom-deck lock is held by the database rules, not just this page: a room only accepts cards outside the four built-in decks once the server has marked it as a Pro facilitator's room. Pro rooms also seat up to 1,000 voters instead of 5 and keep their link 90 days after last use instead of 7, so a recurring refinement can keep its deck, and named decks saved to a team space appear in every new room.

Questions
Are custom decks free?
No. Your own cards are part of Sprint Poker Pro, $29 once for the facilitator; players never pay. You can type and preview a deck on the start card for free, and the four built-in decks (Fibonacci, modified Fibonacci, T-shirt sizes and powers of 2) are free.
How many cards can a custom deck have?
Between 2 and 20, each up to 8 characters. Values must be unique; the start card tells you which one is a duplicate or too long.
Can I use words or emoji instead of numbers?
Yes, any short text works in a custom deck. The reveal then shows the most common card and how far apart the votes are along your deck, instead of an average.
Can I change the deck after the room is created?
Yes. The facilitator can switch to any built-in deck for free, or, with Pro, type a new custom deck in the room settings. Votes already cast stay as they were.
What do ? and the coffee card do?
They let a player abstain ("not sure" or "need a break"). They are shown at the reveal but excluded from average, median and consensus. Every built-in deck has them too.
The free plan covers everything on this page. Sprint Poker Pro ($29, paid once) is described on the Sprint Poker page.
