Install in a minute
Chrome, Edge, Brave: unzip the file, open chrome://extensions, switch on Developer mode, press \u201cLoad unpacked\u201d and choose the folder.
Firefox: unzip the file, open about:debugging#/runtime/this-firefox, press \u201cLoad Temporary Add-on\u201d and choose manifest.json. Temporary add-ons are removed when Firefox restarts; the Add-ons listing removes that limit.
Questions
Do you store my data on your servers?
No. We do not store your data on our servers. What you capture, save, type or convert stays in your browser. The only thing the extension sends us is, for Pro, your licence key (to unlock, to check it once a day and to release a browser); we pass it to our payment provider and do not keep it in a database of ours.
Which AI sites does it work on?
ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini, on the conversation you have open. Every site changes its page layout now and then; when it cannot find the messages Carryover tells you so instead of exporting garbage, and the update is a small change.
Can I move my ChatGPT history into Claude or Gemini?
You can move any conversation. No AI lets you import another AI’s thread directly, so Carryover cuts the chat into parts that fit the next AI and writes a START_HERE.md that tells it to read every part, summarise what the chat was about and what was decided, and carry on from where you stopped. It also gives you a ready prompt to pull the saved memory out of the AI you are leaving.
What formats can I save?
Markdown, PDF (through your browser’s Save as PDF, which handles long chats, tables and code well), Word, HTML, plain text and JSON. Code blocks keep their language, tables stay tables, and maths is kept as LaTeX.
What about my whole history?
ChatGPT and Claude both let you download all your data as a zip. Choose that zip in Carryover and it lists every conversation. Free converts one at a time; Pro converts as many as you tick, as Markdown, HTML, Word, JSON or move packs.
Does it send my chats to you?
No. The messages are read from the page and converted inside your browser. The only call to us is the Pro licence check, which sends your licence key and nothing about any chat.
