A prefix such as ; keeps ordinary words from expanding by accident. With no prefix, shortcuts need at least 3 characters.
Alt+Shift+S opens a search box over the page to insert any snippet. You can change it in your browser's extension shortcut settings (Chrome: chrome://extensions/shortcuts).
Snipbox can already insert a snippet from the toolbar button, the right-click menu and the Alt+Shift+S search box. Those need no extra access: they only touch the page you use them on, at that moment.
To expand shortcuts as you type, Snipbox has to run on the pages where you type. Your browser asks you to allow that, and it words it as "read and change your data" on those sites, because that is what any extension that watches typing needs. What Snipbox does with it: it looks at the few characters before your cursor to see if they are one of your shortcuts, and only then replaces them. It never reads passwords, never sends anything, and stores nothing from the page.
JSON from Snipbox, or a CSV with the columns name, shortcut, body (optional folder, tags). Nothing is deleted; a shortcut that already exists is handled as you choose.
A bundle is a named pack of snippets in one JSON file you can share. Opening one shows a preview so you pick what to import.
